Hi, I'm Kelly, the leasing coordinator at Marchant Property Management.
I'm going to walk you through the simple step by step process for renewing your lease so you know exactly what to expect.
Lease renewal time can come up so quickly, so it's important to understand the process. Knowing what to look for and what steps to take can help you avoid stress, late fees, or an unexpected move out 95 days before your lease ends.
I will send you a lease renewal offer by email. The email will include three renewal options for you to consider, along with a deadline for you to respond by. After reviewing the options, you will need to reply to the renewal email and let me know what option you'd like to choose.
Once I receive your response, I will send you another email with a link to complete the Tenant Information Update form. This form allows us to confirm whether you have made any changes in your household. For example, you can let me know if you have a new baby, a new pet, or if your contact information has changed.
Once I receive your completed form, I will begin preparing your lease renewal. Your lease renewal will then be sent through DocuSign to each email address of each tenant who is listed on the lease. Each tenant listed on the lease must sign the document electronically.
Once all required parties have signed, you will automatically receive a copy of the completed lease for your records. Oh, by the way, you can also find a copy of your lease renewal in your tenant portal under the document section before signing the lease renewal.
Please take a moment to review it carefully. Double check your rental amount. Make sure the new lease start and end days look correct.
While I do my best to try to get everything right, I'm still human and might occasionally mistype a date or number. So think of this as a teamwork moment. Give it a quick review before signing because once the document has been signed, the lease becomes legally binding.
If you decide NOT to renew your leaves, you will need to submit a notice to vacate form. A link to this form will also be included in your lease renewal email. We require a 60 day notice that becomes affected on the first day of the following month. For example, if your notice is given on April 10th, the 60 day period will begin on May 1st and the lease would end on June 30th.
Renewing your lease is simple when you plan ahead. Be sure to watch your email for the renewal offer, reviewing your options carefully and communicate your decision before the deadline. If you're happy in your home, renewing your lease is often the easiest and most cost effective option.
